Professional Photo Printer - The Difference Between High and Extremely High Quality Prints

by Ed Voos

A professional photo printer is not like your simple home model that happens to print out pictures. These are large and made to handle high capacity printing. Surprisingly enough they are much smaller than they use to be and they have been around for quite some time.

During their hey day when this technology was new and printing pictures at home was yet an option, these printers graced many different types of stores as a service. The customer would drop the pictures off to be developed and than either come back and pick the prints up or wait while they were developed.

History

We are so technologically advanced today that we do not really think about how long some technology has been around. The professional photo printer has been around since the early nineteen eighties, of course the huge machine that was is no more but it primarily functioned in the same way.

The initial printers were just about room sized, they were huge and had their own special cooling fans in the room with them to keep them cool. They worked on the same principal as the smaller more efficient professional photo printer of today.

As technology evolved the printers got smaller with time making them easier to use was also a big bonus for the folks that worked in the photo printing industry. The machines became more user friendly and the quality of the printing also improved, which is counterintuitive because you would think that the bigger machines would do better but they did not. The smaller more efficient machines thanks to modern technology work much better.

Where You Find These Printers

For the most part you will still find these machines in stores that offer photo development. There are also photographers that have these machines available to them, so that they can print off the pictures that they have taken.

In some instances you may find a hobbyist that has one in their home. They are still quite expensive so you will usually find them where money can be made off of them.
